SPAIN Brand Market Share Reshufles in Declining Spanish True Fleet Market T he Spanish leet market experienced periods of both growth and declines in terms of its registration numbers, November was a downturn. Volkswagen claimed the No.1 spot in terms of leet registration. Two of its vehicles, the Polo and T-Roc, were main contributors driving its success. Surprisingly, the SUV segment was not the best-performing vehicle segment in the region, that title be-longed to the compact car segment. T he Spanish true leet market luctu-ated much through 2018, growing and declining at various points of the year. November was a down-turn, as the true leet market fell 15.3%. here was a resh ule among the top 10 brands, as only two of the OEMs stayed at the same place they held in 2017. Volkswagen was the best-performing brand for the month. Two vehicles, in par-ticular, catapulted Volkswagen to the No. 1 spot: the Polo and T-Roc. A homegrown brand, SEAT, claimed the No. 2 spot. Peugeot followed, despite posting a decline in registrations through the month. BMW, Toyota, and Renault claimed po-sitions four through six, respectively. Mercedes-Benz came in as the seventh best-performing brand in the Spanish true leet market in November 2018, being one of the brands that did not change positions year-over-year. Nissan moved up two spots to position No. 8, and Ford was the second OEM to re-tain its place at No. 9. Opel claimed the last spot within the top 10. Vehicle Segment Performance It came as a bit of a surprise to see that SUVs were not the highest volume vehicle segment in Novemb er 2018. he best-per-forming vehicle segment, in fact, was the compact car segment. he compact car segment posted a de-cline of 19.9%; however, the amount of ve-hicle registrations this vehicle sees was still high enough to beat out all other segments despite the decline.
